Since returning to Canada from Africa where he grew up the son of missionaries Arthur and Gladys Lagore, Steve Lagore sensed that God would use him to plant a church in the Edmonton area. After sixteen years of serving in lay ministry Steve responded to God’s call to full time ministry. After ministering for thirteen years as a music minister Steve began to see the Mission is as much about reaching those across the road as it is about reaching those across the sea! birth of the vision God gave him. Birth is a good term in that the beginnings of this vision were not without some extremely painful times. An amazing core group of believers met at “the Club” at Southgate on Friday the 4 February 2005 at 8 pm and unanimously voted to plant a new church assembly.
"Mission is as much about reaching those across the road as it is about reaching those across the sea!"
SAM Ministries determined that this was the opportunity God had provided to reinforce the fact that missions is as much about reaching those across the road as it is about reaching those across the sea! And since church planting in Canada and abroad was an object of SAM Ministries’ charitable registration, Steven Lagore was appointed SAM Ministries “missionary” to lead this first initiative.
