Empower Women and Students Through Literacy and Skills
When women learn to read, they gain the power to improve their lives, support their families, and uplift their communities.
In Mozambique, over 60% of rural women cannot read. Literacy is more than education—it’s a lifeline. When women learn to read, they gain the power to improve their lives, support their families, and uplift their communities. Literate mothers break the cycle of poverty by helping their children succeed in school. Reading also deepens spiritual growth, allowing individuals to engage with Scripture and build a future filled with hope.
Simukai (Stand Up) Program
Our Simukai Program equips church-based women’s groups in four central provinces with faith-based literacy training, Bible study, parenting guidance, and health education. Through this program, women discover their self-worth and gain the confidence to shape brighter futures.
Practical Skills for a Brighter Future
Simukai also offers sewing and craft training, creating handcrafted Mozambican products. Mission school students learn essential sewing skills, including fabric cutting, measuring, and treadle machine maintenance. These lessons reinforce math skills, encourage focus, and open doors to careers in tailoring—an in-demand profession. Students take pride in wearing and showcasing their handmade creations.
